This is really a good kit to build as a static model. I say that because after completing it I did not want to take it out and scratch it up or break it. You might think otherwise so let me know how well yours flies.
Tha Rufe was used by the Japanese (IJN) navy as an interceptor to protect fuel depots and to reinforce bases. It’s was really effective in harassing USN PT boats at night. They would drop flares to backlight the boats making them vulnerable to Japanese destroyers. They also took on P40 War Hawks, P38 Lighting fighter and B-17’s.
The balas parts is laser cut so they almost feel off the board. I never had to use the Xacto knife once to clean to the stringer slots. The instructions are clear so there is not a lot of guessing of what goes where.
The kit comes with white tissue to cover the model and instructions on how to use dope to apply it. I substituted the white tissue with red-colored tissue and I used a glue stick to apply the covering instead mode model dope.
All in all, this was a really fun build and I’m sure that you are going to enjoy the model also. So here is the Build video. followed by the covering video. I will put links to the colored tissue after the covering video.
Here is the video on covering the Rufe. It is a little long
Here are some helpful links. especially for the tissue.
