LaTrax Alias Quad Copter.
This Quad copter is a pretty good upgrade from its smaller cousins like the Estes ProtoX. You can still fly it indoors, but because if it’s size your limited to the amount of living room space. It is geared more for outdoor use. If you live in a windy area. You need to be a little careful when flying. The higher the wind the more it act’s like a Frisbee. As with any remote control aircraft you need to exercise a lot of attention to safety. especially if there are other people or small children and animals around you. This Quad has 3 different levels of operation.
- Level 1 is the basic level and has all stabilization. This is great for the beginner learning to fly a quad copter
- Level 2 is the intermediate level. You still have stabilization and your able to do flips.
- Level 3 is the advanced level. All stabilization is turned off so you need to have your skill level
The battery will last about 10 minutes so I would suggest you pickup 2 or 3 extra of the LaTrax 3.7v batteries. I hate to wait on a battery to continue to fly.
Pros
- It’s ready to run right out of the box.
- It comes with with 3.7v Li-Po battery.
- It has a USB charger with 2 levels of operation. Normal and Fast.
- A spare set of blades are provided with an Allen wrench.
- The Transmitter is a is a good size and handles well.
- The Quad Copter is durable. I plowed it into the house and the ground several times with no damage ( always remember to shut the throttle down if you know it is going to crash).
- There are 3 accessories available for purchase. Led Bar, HD Camera with sound and a 120 degree lens for the camera.
Cons
- Don’t fly in a high wind.
- The USB charger defaults to a normal charge if the USB port on your computer does not have sufficient power so a charge from a wall USB plug would be best.
- The blades are a little difficult to identify. You will find the Letters A or B on the blade on the bottom of each blade next to the hub. When you an old guy like me you might need a magnifying glass to see it.
- I would like to see an On/Off switch. Instead you just have to make a connection.
The LaTraxs that I purchased is well built, durable and a lot of fun.
Happy Flying
